Board-certified neurologists at Lake Forest Hospital are trained in the diagnosis and treatment of nervous system disorders, including diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. The division provides treatment for a full range of neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s, ALS (“Lou Gehrig’s disease”), brain tumors, dizziness/vertigo, dementia, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and more. Our specialists also work with patients who have experienced stroke. Treatment approaches may include medication and prevention techniques, as well as physical, occupational or speech therapies and training exercises to help men adjust to physical of functional limitations caused by these conditions.
Neurologists perform neurological examinations of the nerves of the head and neck; muscle strength and movement; balance, ambulation, and reflexes; sensation; as well as memory, speech, language and other cognitive abilities. They perform a variety of diagnostic tests to aid in their diagnosis and to guide treatment planning.
