Osteoporosis

While men can and do get osteoporosis, the disease that causes weakening of the bones is predominently a woman’s disease. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, women are four times as likely to contract osteoporosis than men. Bone loss most often occurs in the hips, wrists and spine.

Lake Forest Hospital’s Osteoporosis programs help women understand the risk factors and implement steps to maintain healthy bones throughout their life. To help determine your risk of osteoporosis, Lake Forest Hospital provides a comprehensive Bone Densitometry study that reviews you’re the density of your lumbar spine and hip bones. Screenings are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Please allow 30 minutes per appointment. In addition, our mobile CareCoach offers a simple, less comprehensive study of your foot to help indicate your risk factors.

We offer a variety of appointment times to best fit our patient's busy schedules. Please call to determine the best appointment time for you.
