Physical Rehabilitation & Occupational Therapy
A woman experiences unique physical and emotional discomforts due to her biology and gender role and therefore requires a tailored approach to healing and recovery therapies. Physical and occupational therapy services are available to both inpatients and outpatients with a variety of diagnoses. Physical therapy treats physical dysfunction or injury by using therapeutic exercise and other treatments. Occupational therapy assists in an individual's development of fine motor skills to help people accomplish basic daily living activities. Our therapies can also focus on sensory issues, coordination of movement, balance, and self-help skills such as dressing, eating with utensils, and grooming.
At Lake Forest Hospital, we offer multiple specialty programs and areas of therapist expertise. Center for Pain Treatment & Rehabilitation—The Center offers an experienced team, including anesthesiologists who are board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, who provide a complete range of pain rehabilitation and pain management services. We can help you deal with the physical, emotional, social and vocational effects of your chronic pain condition so that you can resume your activities in a meaningful and productive way.
We work to identify the site of pain, decrease inflammation and provide pain relief to help patients improve the quality of their life. Pain that comes from injured or inflamed nerves can often be improved by injecting certain medications to the area of injury. These treatments also allow patients to work effectively with physical therapists and start personal exercise programs to regain strength and function with less pain. Our multidisciplinary chronic pain programs include fibromyalgia services, independent medical evaluations/second opinions, medical acupuncture and industrial rehabilitation.
We offer a variety of appointment times to best fit our patient's busy schedules. Please call to determine the best appointment time for you.
